Harold Whitman "Goof" Stewart

 

WELL-KNOWN VALLEY RESIDENT PASSES AWAY

 

Harold Whitman "Goof" Stewart - 65, of Wolfville, passed away Thursday, March 8, 2012 at home, surrounded by his family.  Born in Wolfville, he was the son of the late Willard and Estella (Whitman) Stewart. He was currently employed with Praxair as Territory Manager and had just celebrated 45 years with the company. He was an active member and 47 year veteran of the Wolfville Volunteer Fire Department, where he served many years as Deputy Chief and a former member and King Lion of the Wolfville Lions Club. He was a fan of the Acadia Hockey Axemen and a charter member of the Acadia Blue Line Club. Harold was passionate about his family, his work and his community. He is survived by his wife, the former Patricia "Pat" Murphy; two daughters, Karilynn Stewart (Andrew Miszczak), London, Ontario and Kimberlea Stewart (John Hatch), Halifax; a son, Scott (Kim), White Rock; three grandchildren, Kathleen, Jessica and Alex; his mother-in-law, Kathleen R. Murphy, Cole Harbour; a cousin, Lawrence (Maxine) Stewart, New Minas. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Sunday, March 11, 2012 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 12, 2012, Pastor Eva Van Buskirk officiating. Burial will take place in the Willowbank Cemetery, Wolfville. A reception will follow in the Wolfville Volunteer Fire Department. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Wolfville Volunteer Fire Department or the Terry Fox Foundation. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
