Carl Duncan McCulley

Carl Duncan McCulley, 90, lifelong resident of Baxter’s Harbour, passed peacefully at home on Monday, June 24, 2024 with his loving wife by his side. Born in Baxter’s Harbour, he was a son of the late George and Alice (Schofield) McCulley and the last surviving member of his immediate family.

A jack of all trades, Carl sold insurance for several years, worked for Acadia University as a custodian, and enjoyed farm work.

Carl is survived by his wife of 41 years, Heather (Gillard); children, Deborah (Clyde) Seeton, Reg McCulley and Carla McCulley; daughter-in-law, Mary McCulley; brother-in-law, Dan (Carolyn) Gillard; grandchildren, Tanya, Shannon, Stephanie, Gabriella and Gavin; several great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and extended family.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Stephen McCulley; brothers, Nathan, Wesley, Wylie, Nelson, Joe and Harold McCulley; and sisters, Elizabeth Rafuse, Gertrude Compeau, Lola Schofield, Laura Martin and Sadie Heaslip.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service (with a livestream available) will also be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3, 2024. Pastor Terry Penney officiating. Interment will take place in Baxter’s Harbour Cemetery, Baxter’s Harbour Road.
