Pauline Margaret Wright

Pauline Margaret (Burdett) Wright

August 30, 1937 - June 21, 2024

Wolfville, Nova Scotia

Pauline Burdett, born in Manchester, England, to the late William Burdett and Phyllis Croxall, lived a life filled with compassion, dedication, and joy. She trained as a registered nurse and midwife in Birmingham, England, before embarking on a journey that would define her remarkable career and life.

In 1962, Pauline immigrated to Montreal, where she dedicated 17 years of service at the Royal Victoria Hospital, touching countless lives with her caring nature and expertise. It was in Montreal where she met the love of her life, Alexander Wright, a Scotsman from Edinburgh. Their union blessed them with two sons, Stuart and Jamie.

Relocating to Wolfville, Nova Scotia, in 1979, Pauline continued to enrich her community. While her husband, Alexander, taught at Acadia University, Pauline contributed her talents to the EKM Hospital and the VON. She was a devoted member of St. John's Anglican Church, actively participating in the ACW (Anglican Church Women) group. Her involvement extended to the Kenwood Bridge Club, where friendships blossomed over shared passions.

Outside her professional and community commitments, Pauline found solace and joy in her hobbies. An avid gardener with a green thumb, she cultivated beauty around her. Her love for storytelling manifested in cherished narratives of her childhood in England during wartime. In her youth, she thrived on the tennis court and glided gracefully across snowy landscapes on cross-country skis.

Pauline was predeceased by her beloved husband, Alexander; her sister, Jillian; and her stepmother, Nancy Burdett. She is survived by her loving sons, Stuart and Jamie; and her cherished grandchildren, Ceilidh, Colin, Jasmine, and Alexander. Her brothers, Michael and Phillip in England; sister, Angela in France; and nieces and nephew, Zara, Nicole, and Darren, mourn her passing deeply.

Pauline Wright was a woman of strength, independence, and unwavering kindness. Her absence will be keenly felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

The funeral service to celebrate Pauline's life will be held at St. John's Anglican Church in Wolfville, Saturday, July 6th at 2:00 p.m. with interment to follow, and then a reception at the Blomidon Inn. Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
