Jack Ronald Balsor

We are saddened to announce Jack Ronald Balsor, 92, of Kentville passed away peacefully at Valley Hospice, Kentville, on June 18, 2024. Jack was the son of the late Roscoe and Helen (Rockwell) Balsor.

He spent his working career with Scotian Gold Cooperative as purchasing agent and operations manager until retirement. Jack came out of retirement to manage the Scotian Gold roadside market for a few years.

Jack was well known to many of the Valley farmers and was respected for his congenial nature and ability to get along with everyone.

Jack was a past president of Ken-Wo Golf Club, Kentville Lions Club and the Glooscap Curling Club. In addition to being a competitive curler at the Provincial and National levels, he was an active fundraiser for the curling club for many years.

Jack was predeceased by his sister, Sandra VanMeekeren.

He is survived by his wife, Lorraine "Lou"; daughters, Susan Balsor-Boudreau (Tony), Greenwich; Linda Balsor, Murphy Lake; sister, Mona Tzagarakis, Baxters Harbour; brother-in-law, Fred VanMeekeren, Kentville; grandson, Shawn Boudreau (Katie Jordan-Boudreau), Mount Uniacke; nieces, Christine MacIntyre (Gus MacIntyre), Greenwich; Helen Tzagarakis (Bill MacKenzie), Salt Springs Island, BC; nephew, Paul Tzagarakis (Penny Mailman), Baxter Harbour; great nieces, Jennifer MacIntyre, Kentville; and Erin MacIntyre, Cambridge.

Cremation has taken place and as per Jack’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service.  A private family burial will take place at a later date.

The family would like to thank the medical support teams along Jack’s journey to End of life.
