Joyce Strong

1926-2024

Joyce Strong

Joyce Strong, a beloved matriarch, passed away peacefully on Wednesday May 29th, 2024. Born in 1926 in Prospect, Nova Scotia, Joyce leaves behind a legacy that stretches across generations. As a mother of five – Joyce was predeceased by her four sons: Victor, Larry, David, Gerald and survived by daughter, Cathy. Joyce was a grandmother to eight, great-grandmother to eleven, and great great-grandmother to three. Joyce's nurturing presence was felt by all who knew her.

She was known for her love of card games, where laughter and friendly competition filled her home. Sunday suppers were a cherished tradition, bringing her family together around the table to share stories and wholesome home-cooked meals, never without a dessert served. Joyce had a green thumb and found solace in tending to her plants and flowers, bringing beauty and life into her surroundings. Her skilled hands were never idle, as she spent countless hours knitting and crocheting, creating warmth and comfort for those she loved.

Joyce was characterized by her strong will and determination, qualities that carried her through life's challenges until the very end. Predeceased by her husband, Stuart Strong, Joyce lived alone in the home she loved more than anywhere else for the last 23 years.

Though Joyce may have left this world, her spirit lives on in the hearts of those she touched. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered for her unwavering love, strength, and the countless moments of joy she shared with her family and friends.

A graveside service will be held for friends and family on Saturday, June 8th at 2:00pm in the Cambridge Cemetery, Cambridge, Kings County. Donations can be made in Joyce’s memory to the Waterville Baptist Church or to Valley Regional Hospital.
